The ICSZ 2025 Residential Writing Fellowship

The ICSZ 2025 Residentialย Writing Fellowship gathers a small cohort of fellows for a writing retreat in Big Bear, California from Sept 6-13, 2025.

The ICSZ 2025 Residential Writing Fellowship gathers a small cohort of fellows for a writing retreat in Big Bear, California from Sept 6-13, 2025. The retreat will be supported by an ICSZ coordinator/ participant on-site.

Each fellow will submit a short piece of writing for publication on the ICSZ website, and will be invited to publish longer articles from their project in the peer-reviewed Journal for the Critical Study of Zionism. 

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:
The ICSZ writing fellowship aims to support new writing in Critical Zionism Studies (CZS.) CZS is a highly interdisciplinary field that interrogates Zionism as politics, ideology, epistemological regime, racial capitalist regime, practice, and power structure. We invite applications from scholars, students, and organizers for works-in-progress, including research-based essays, monographs, or creative writing projects. Applications consist of an abstract and short bibliography, and contact information for a recommender (scholar or organizer) in the field of study.

ABOUT THE WRITING FELLOWSHIP:
The fellowship runs Saturday 9/6 – Saturday 9/13, and provides housing in Big Bear, California. Each fellow will have a private bedroom, $300 transportation stipend, meals, and snacks for theย duration of the fellowship.ย Participants are asked to join three 45-minuteย facilitated sessions throughout the fellowship week to discuss theirย writing and respond to others’ work. Eachย applicant is asked to submitย a short piece of writing (250-800 words)ย onย a keyย idea from their project (before the fellowship or by the end of 2025) to be published on the ICSZ website. Fellows will be invited to publishย longer articles from their projectย in the peer-reviewedย Journal for the Critical Study of Zionism.

SELECTION:
Fellows will be informed by July 22, 2025. Applying to the fellowship indicates a commitment to fully participate.
