This webinar exposes, analyzes and criticizes strategies and tactics of Israeli hasbara (propaganda) in the contemporary media- and cinemascape. Film and media scholars Dennis Broe (Paris Nanterre), Terri Ginsberg (Middle East Moving Image Collective), and Yulia Gilich (ICSZ) will each focus on a different aspect of how hasbara operates in the media environment, including mainstream corporate news programs, streaming websites, social media platforms, independent media production companies, and film festivals large and small. The aim of the webinar is to help activists and intellectuals learn to recognize the language of hasbara, understand its methods of operation, and strategize how to resist its varied yet consistent modes of production, circulation, distribution, and exhibition.
