ICSZ Workgroups are anchored to ICSZ by a collective or advisory board member. They are open to activists, students, and scholars at all levels, and open to global participation. Each workgroup starts by laying out its planned contributions to critical perspectives on Zionism, and a concrete plan and timeline of work. Below are some of the ICSZ workgroups that are currently active. Please be in touch for more information at info@criticalzionismstudies.org.
Public Records and Archive Mapping
The Public Records and Archive Mapping workgroup is focused on collecting, collating, and providing avenues for generating new archives. Specifically, we are working on constructing an archive of contemporary Zionist repression; and on building an archive of the way contemporary Zionist organizations are working through institutions to suppress knowledge about and advocacy for Palestine.

Encountering the Sayegh Archive
Among other accomplishments, Fayez Sayegh founded the PLO Research Center in 1965. In his own writing, Sayegh devoted thousands of pages to a critical analysis of Zionist ideology. His archive also gathers an important collection of Arab-American, PLO, U.N., anti-colonial, and student movement history. This group reads and engages with documents from Sayegh’s writing and the assemblage of his archive.
Zionism & Race
Gathering, supporting, and sharing research on Zionism’s role in making, limiting, and leveraging ideas about race. This includes examining Zionism, both historically and contemporarily, as a project of racial rule, embedded in Western colonialism, white supremacy, and racial capitalism. It is also interested in the intersections between Zionism as a racial-colonial project and other structures of dominance such as gender, sex, class, and (dis)ability.
